What is this?
Ke Time divides the day into 100 equal parts, each called a ke. Each ke contains 16 short-minutes (shm), and each short-minute has 54 seconds. This system allows for an intuitive percentage-based way to track the progress of the day.
Midday is defined as 35 ke, meaning that the ke day begins at 03:36:00 (3:36 AM) on a traditional clock. This ensures that most people experience their full day within a single ke date (only a tiny minority go to bed after 03:36 or wake up before this time).
The term "ke" is derived from an ancient Chinese time measurement that divided the day into 100 parts. However, unlike historical Chinese timekeeping, Ke Time uses standard SI seconds, ensuring consistency and precision.
Ke Time provides an easy way to measure the progress of the day as a percentage, which can help with personal scheduling and productivity. Since it is based on existing time zones, local Ke time aligns with traditional clocks while offering a more intuitive way to track time.
